As Vicki Basta says of her work: "My paintings and mixed media art speak to the soul- they are intimate, human and earthy. Intricate layers of paint meld with found objects, creating visual worlds of depth, texture and color. Dried roots, leaves, flowers and seeds reflect the passage of time and mirror ones on transtition of deathe renewal and rebirth. Currently I am using bark, branches and roots to explore the theme of being rooted or unrooted in ones life. I am also exploring the use of non-toxic paints and material, for my own health and the health of the environment."
